Dear Diary, just stuff I saw these past few days

The last couple of days: taken from my phone camera's point of view....

1.  a book I bought a few months ago and totally forgot about...but remembered last night when I was making my list of "100 Japanese authors to read". (click here for an almost finished list)

This is a book titled "a  book of women author's - Meiji Era born authors edition" by Ichikawa Noriko.    (I just found out that she has a magazine titled....."Iroha" ....  unfortunately the last one was published in 2007 and there hasn't been a new one out yet.  I'll try to find one of the 5 issues that have so far been published!)

This is a book of 150 pages and it introduces 6 authors (born in the Meiji Era: 1868 ~1912) with timelines, pictures of their most favorite belongings, book covers and sometimes pictures of their homes and offices...
(click here and you will be taken to the publisher's website...all in Japanese but some very nice books...)

2. I found a mushroom underneath the book return box at my local library....
It looks like a shiitake, but I'm not sure!

3. On my way home the other day, I was staring out the train window and I saw a rainbow.

I thought, "awww, if only I could take a picture..."
Then, when I got off at the train station, the rainbow was still there!  It was starting to fade away, so I took the picture with my phone...can you still see it?
Then an even stranger thing happened...I was looking at the new "blogs of note" and found out that that person was looking at the EXACT SAME rainbow!

The rainbow is a bit more clear in his picture over here: is my English strange

The world is so big, yet so small...

yes! i see the rainbow, nice ☺
I am often so happy to have my mobile phone to take a picture when I don't have a camera with me.You reminded me i need one of those cords to get the photos off my new phone onto my computer.
I am a big book lover too, I love the Japanese craft books we have here.

Lori ann! Yeah, I am finally getting the knack of my phone camera...
it does come in handy!

I can't wait to see more pictures on your blog!

Oh, and I'll try to take pictures of craft magazines and books that I like here in Japan so you can see what those are like too!

This is definitely not a shitakee mushroom if it's growing in a library :-)

I can also see the rainbow, it's beautiful. Thanks for that, I haven't actually seen a rainbow for a very long time. And the coincidence of having the same picture taken by someone else and then published on a blog... very strange!

Polly! Isn't it weird? Both the mushroom and the same rainbow on a different blog! I hadn't seen a rainbow in quite a while too, and I think it is the first time I ever tried to photograph one!

I find rainbows optimistic... in a grey grey world it appears with all its colours... great :))
Thank you for sharing Tulsa!

Yes, I see the rainbow, but my favourite picture is the mushroom one (whatever it is!). OK, come clear, how many rading challenges are you taking this year? I thought I was bad...

B!
LOL, I know, all these lists... I tend to go a bit overboard!

But I'm not going to try to finish both lists this year. Even if I quit my job that wouldn't be possible...although that is a lovely thought....

So my long term challenges are the two "fill in the gap" lists.
My challenges for this year are to finish my book and finish the "i-ro-ha" series...

Since I haven't found a book similar to the "i-ro-ha" series I might even try to package it into a book!

Aaaaaah, I'm doing it again aren't I ?!
I guess I am a workaholic or something...

thank you for visiting!

Hello from New York, and thank you for visiting my blog.

I looked closely at that photo and ... the rainbow appeared.

Last night ... or maybe early this morning ... we had a sudden, dramatic and long-lasting thunder storm over our New York sky. Everyone I know woke up, yet none of us actually went to our windows to see the brilliant light show.

Now wishing that I had.

I will surely come back to vist here. Cheers!

Frances, I am so happy that you stopped by!
Nature does put on the best shows... sorry Broadway;-)

Thank you for seeing the rainbow too, it does kind of fade in and out doesn't it?!
